Tiger Blood by ColinHSillerud Tiger Blood by ColinHSillerud
Light bleeds around winding corners as the Tiger stalks. A growl, a roar, cascades over rocks and into my ears biting my curiosity. Danger be damned, I will follow. I will roar!

Over 4x normal flow in Zion's Narrows meant a full body dry suit. 4 times I was in water to my armpits. I had to balance my backpack on my head while I held the neck seal open to let air escape to keep from turning into a balloon and floating away.

Resubmission. I realized that I went way over board with the saturation the first go round.

tripod doubles as a walking stick :) what kind of gear do you wear for this kind of stuff...i get spoiled with warm water/weather most of the year :)

haha, well, Marc and James broke their tripods and I didn't bring anything that could stand -20 so we all had to work together. every thing that makes a great trip great!

haha, i took too long to respond and forgot which photo we were talking about. i was referencing the Yukon conditions.

in this one, i rented a full body dry suit, cause the water is like 35 degrees and up to the armpits in multiple places. but what i said about the tripod as walking stick is still true - it's a bad idea! they're too damn expensive and fragile.

Ah, good to know. And yea, in serious situations I wouldnt use them but for the easy stream crossings they work well as long as you're not torquing them :P Dry suit rental...got it ;)

believe it or not, i only waited about an hour. i had been here before though, so i had an idea of what i wanted. i liked this comp before, but it needed more water, so i knew that with the extra flow this would be popping. also, i shot it on a day with partial clouds. this allowed me to feature the bright face in the back. it looks like it's in full sun, but that is only because the contrast with the shaded canyon is so strong. it is really at about half cloud filtered sun.

Damn this is good. I like the dark feel of this and the low angle. Glad you didn't clip those trees. I might try dodging a little on that bright canyon wall but not too much. It's a little overpowering on my monitor. I also like the face in the shadows on the right wall. Kinda intimidating.

Thx. I tried have dodging the wall a bit, but it makes it blend too much with the other walls which reduces the depth. Glad ya like it man!
