Spumoni by ColinHSillerud Spumoni by ColinHSillerud
I was conflicted about the illumination in this shot. I wanted it more even, but as the light increased, the green was swallowed by gold. So I went for color over even transitions. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I'm surprised this still has so few faves; it is one of my all time favorite shots on DA.

Outstanding photo. The only nice additional to a flawless shot like this one would be the human element so that the viewer can get a better appreciation of scale but that's not something that depends on the photographer in most cases.

it does look like a painting until you really get close to it. quite a strange illusion. i did use a blur filter on top of the sharp image, which added a slight glow.

I'd prefer the color tones and the transitions between rather than what it really is. now?

it does. and in a way, that is kind of what happened - a natural spill of elements and geologic processes.

cool man, good to hear. any plans for spring break, shooting wise?

things are good. this is the low sales time after christmas so i'm doin much more shooting than work which is great. been spending a lot of time in the sandias. gonna go back up tomorrow i think.

i might be heading out to la ventana arch this weekend if you want to roll. i'm gonna try repelling in from behind it for a shot.

I'm free for Spring Break man. I get my Provisional license shortly after Feb 20th, so I'll be able to roll around later next month.
Sounds fun bro, seems like your spending a good amount of time outside. I haven't been out shooting since Thanksgiving.
But yeah, I really won't have time for anything until my basketball season ends next month. I'll give you a holler on here or Facebook, it'd be a blast to go shooting with ya during the break.

Perfect bro. March 15-19: Spring Break.
My Dad is looking for something up north, because he does commercial work for the NNMAC (Northern New Mexico Art Catalogue) and he needs a cover image for the next issue - you know the hot spots man, I'll leave the location to you. ;)
