Castle In The Sky by ColinHSillerud Castle In The Sky by ColinHSillerud
Shot from the 4th. Was a fun trip, which included digging many people out of a sand dune and then getting hand fulls of cash for the assistance. Didn't ask for it, was just forced to take it. So we bought some margaritas and had a lake party... no pictures of that will be shown.

Hey there Colin!
Aww, that's ok - and I'm looking forward to some amazing pictures from you! :blowkiss:
Haha, I'm fine - a bit nervous about AS level results, but otherwise I'm fine. Btw, I'll be moving accounts in a few days, I'll re-watch you though of course. <3

Powerful vivid colours in the sands set against a strongly contrasted sky, just wonderful! I love how the sands lead your eye up to the top of the frame and then you're greeted by clouds exploding outwards. The composition is spot on! Well done indeed!

Very nice! I really want to make it up there this summer but I'm afraid my car won't make it. How bad is the sand up there these days? And also, what cars did you dig out? Sounds like a good time nonetheless.

you need 4wheel for sure. i dug out a loaded jeep, but they didn't know what they were doing, it could have made it fine. but a car won't make it. a carola was dead to rights. not a prayer.

So I'm guessing a ford escape wont make it out alive haha. I'll have to find someone with a 4x4 hopefully. I have heard mixed reviews saying you need it and some you don't.

haha, you could give it a shot, but i can tell you the road got appreciably worse after our trip because we had to dig out a jeep that got stuck at the worst possible place - the base of the largest sand dune. so now there is a giant hole that really zaps your necessary speed when charging the hill.

I'd rather not risk it and make myself look like a jackass out there haha. That's a shame, a few years ago when I first read about it reports were saying the road was manageable with just a high clearance vehicle and now four wheel drive is mandatory. I guess in a sense it keeps plenty of people out and maintains it's wildness.
