One of those days spent in a sea of clouds. Then, as on cue, the light intensifies, the heart pounds, a stray ray peaks through, palms sweat, sometimes the world just opens for you.

p.s. During the climb, a massive bolt of lightning leapt from the fog. Thunder crackled from each tree. It called for about a minute.

Has anyone else experienced lightning in a snow storm? Happened to me twice now, but I thought it was virtually non-existent.

I love this softness and the warm light on the top of the mountain while the soft clouds are hugging and covering it..

I am glad you like this. it was one of my favorite's to shoot - alone in the silent snow, until the clouds broke and welcomed me back.

I do like to pretend, when the wind is up and the sky is angry, that I am a lone explorer on a new planet. What do you think of when you shoot?

I can imagine that feeling, it's so exciting!..I haven't been in such places alone though but when I'm doing my pictures my mind is there. If I'm as a model I have to be an actrice. Or when I see the beauty I think I have to capture it and to show to others :)

Well Astranat, I must say you have captured my attention. It sure is a pity that we live so far away from one another. I do have plans to visit Russia one day so as you said, "we never know..." :)

wow this picture has the feeling of being so imaginary and grandeur !! This is such a beautiful shot, makes it look like painting [or drawing ??] to me. I love this ! Very fine and even, the lighting matches with the mood.
And because of that, this has been featured <a href"[link]">HERE</a> on the first line.

Thanks for this work !!:love::clap:

There is something awesome about a Thundersnow, and once you've seen one, you don't forget it. Even out on the Plains, I have seen lightning during a heavy snowstorm and it's pretty impressive. I'm glad you didn't get struck. A very beautiful shot by the way. The light on the peak is stunning.

Great image.
Before I moved to South Ontario I never heard about lightning in a snow storm.
When I heard it first time I thought I’m losing my mind. It is known as Thundersnow.

I've seen & heard thundersnow in South Bend, Indiana. It's pretty rare stuff, actually.

Excellent photo. Dreamlike.

Excellent capture of such elegant, soft light mate, really digging it! Only nit I have is the darker shadowed tree on the top left of the image. I think it has some very minor CA, it's some what out of focus nearer the top, and distracts my eyes from the rest of the scene a little. Just my thought though, great image overall.

Thanks man! all your comments are right on, problem is i am aware and can't fix em. the tree appears out of focus because it was blowing very hard about ten feet off the ground so it was moving. and i don't know where the CA came from (unusually non-existant on that lens) but it is too severe for me to correct with the techniques i know. i will work on the darkness however. see if i can't equalize it a bit.
