Ascension by ColinHSillerud Ascension by ColinHSillerud
-9 degrees just doesn't translate with light this warm.

This was the last day in a five day trip with my oldest, best friend. the day was cloudless, but just at dusk, a bank arrived to commandeer the sun.

I had to stand in the water which turned my snowshoes to blocks of ice. Took a damn hour to get em off so I could get in my sleeping bag. So you all better like it...

Pretty grand indeed. My eyes see the shadows as a bit too open esp in the midground and around the peaks. solid sir!

Thanks! The snow picked up some color from the sunset, but magenta is the wrong cast. should have just a hint of orange and blue. i will investigate on a few other monitors.

Pretty killer light. Looks like you can burn the darks esp in the mtn areas as they look a bit too open. Great effort here

Def better...check the color of the snow. I'm getting weird magenta/blue tones. Could be a color cast or from the strong sunset light...

You captured the moment perfectly Colin, well done! I completely understand you when you say that the cold doesn't translate in the image when the colors are so vibrant and heart warming, I work in the same sort of condition in Marquette, MI, I love the snow being around everywhere, but i'm getting a little tired of the cold weather hah! great composition and the moment of capture truly seems like it was the perfect moment, I get a strong sense of tranquil adventure, bit of a contradiction, but it feels peaceful and I can tell your heart was racing when this scene unfolded before your eyes out of excitement, keep up the great work, If I end up going out to Utah this summer I'll make sure to get a hold of you!
